Oh heavens, these little steak bites and golden potatoes are such a hit! Tender, juicy pieces of steak are cooked until beautifully browned, then tossed with crispy potatoes in a rich garlic-butter sauce. It’s an easy, comforting dinner that the whole family will love.

🛒 Ingredients

For the Steak

  • 1½ lbs (680 g) sirloin steak, cut into bite-size cubes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

For the Potatoes

  • 1½ lbs (680 g) baby potatoes, cut into small cubes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Garlic Butter

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 5–6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional

👩‍🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the ingredients

Cut the steak into small, evenly sized pieces. Cut the potatoes into small cubes so they cook relatively quickly.

Pat the steak dry with paper towels. This helps it develop a beautiful browned crust.

2. Season the steak

Place the steak pieces in a bowl and toss with olive oil, salt, black pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning.

Set aside while you prepare the potatoes.

3. Cook the potatoes

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

Add the potatoes in a single layer. Season with salt and pepper.

Cook for about 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are golden brown and tender inside.

If the potatoes are browning too quickly while remaining firm, reduce the heat slightly and cover the skillet for a few minutes.

4. Remove the potatoes

Transfer the cooked potatoes to a plate and set them aside.

Keep the skillet on the stove—you’ll use those flavorful browned bits for the steak.

5. Sear the steak

Increase the heat to high and add another small drizzle of oil if the skillet looks dry.

Add the steak pieces in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if necessary.

Sear for about 2–3 minutes per side, depending on the size of the pieces and your preferred doneness.

6. Add the garlic butter

Reduce the heat to medium-low.

Add the butter and minced garlic to the skillet. Stir for about 30–60 seconds, just until the garlic becomes fragrant.

Be careful not to burn the garlic.

7. Combine everything

Return the cooked potatoes to the skillet.

Add the Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes if using. Toss everything together so the steak and potatoes become coated in the garlic butter.

Cook for another 1–2 minutes.

8. Finish with parsley

Turn off the heat and sprinkle the skillet with freshly chopped parsley.

Taste and add a little more salt or pepper if needed.

9. Serve

Serve the garlic butter steak and potatoes hot and straight from the skillet.

For a complete meal, pair it with steamed broccoli, green beans, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.

⭐ Tips for the Best Steak Bites

  • Pat the steak dry before seasoning for better browning.
  • Don’t overcrowd the skillet, or the steak may steam instead of sear.
  • Cut the potatoes into similar-sized pieces so they cook evenly.
  • Add the garlic toward the end to prevent it from burning.
  • For extra flavor, finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
